Good applications were failing for avoidable reasons. So we started planning further ahead.
Leeds, since 2016. Three people, one approach: plan the route, not just the form.
Why we plan the whole route
Nadia Brennan-Osei spent the first years of her career at a community advice centre in West Yorkshire. Again and again she met people who had done everything right on paper and still lost years: a two-month gap between visas, a long trip home to care for a parent, a route chosen without anyone asking where it led.
In 2016 she opened Lanternway in Leeds city centre to catch those problems at the start rather than the end. Every client gets a written route plan. We keep track of their next deadline even when there's no application in progress, and we get in touch before it arrives.
